Later it moved to Parkgate Junior School and from 2008 until 2019 has been held in Queens’ School, Aldenham Road, Bushey. Post covid, the classes are being held in 1st Bushey Heath Scout Group, 3 Little Bushey Ln, Bushey WD23 4JP until March 2024. Currently we are at Recital Hall, Nascot Junior School, Nascot Wood Road, Watford, WD17 4YS
The Herts Tamil School is an offshoot of the Tamil Union of Herts. Tamil Union of Herts was formed with three main objectives as its pillars to serve the community. The objectives are:
- To promote and organise charitable activities in order to generate funds to help the long-suffering, needy people in our homelands.
- To promote and organise social activities to preserve the religious and cultural aspects for the community in this country wherever they are. (The word “Herts” in the name only signifies the area of origin of the Tamil Union of Herts)
- To establish a Tamil school in this area to facilitate Tamil language, cultural and religious education for the children and to provide a meeting place for community members.
The Tamil Union of Herts at its Annual General Meeting elects 12 committee members who subsequently meet to appoint office bearers to look after the 3 core objectives of the UNION, one of them is the SCHOOL. At least 4 of the committee members are assigned to look after the interests of the school, who in turn invite interested school members from among the parents and the teachers to make up a 10 member School Management Committee.
The school has been a regular focal point for parents and families to maintain social contacts and share information. The pupils have taken part in various functions and celebrations, and graced the halls and stages on many occasions. The school has been helping the children grow up with a sense of their cultural identity and confidence.
